Terms & Conditions
1. Introduction
Welcome to SafeGrid, a community safety and coordination platform operated by Brunia Bay (Pty) Ltd ("SafeGrid", "we", "us", "our"). By accessing or using SafeGrid, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
2. Purpose of the Platform
SafeGrid is designed to:
- Assist neighbourhood watches and communities in coordinating safety activities
- Facilitate incident reporting, communication, and response coordination
- Provide tools for improved visibility and community collaboration
SafeGrid is not a law enforcement agency and does not guarantee prevention of crime or emergency outcomes.
3. User Responsibilities
By using SafeGrid, you agree to:
- Provide accurate and truthful information
- Use the platform responsibly and lawfully
- Not submit false, misleading, or malicious reports
- Not misuse emergency or panic features
You are solely responsible for the content you submit.
4. Emergency Use Disclaimer
SafeGrid may assist in coordinating responses but:
- Does not guarantee response times
- Does not replace emergency services
- Should not be relied on as the sole emergency solution
In emergencies, always contact official emergency services.
5. Data Usage & Privacy
SafeGrid collects and processes personal information in accordance with applicable laws, including the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Your data may be used to:
- Facilitate incident response
- Share relevant information with authorised responders
- Improve community safety operations
Your information is only shared when necessary for safety and operational purposes.
6. Location & Incident Data
By using SafeGrid, you acknowledge that:
- Location data may be used during incidents
- Incident reports may be visible to authorised users within your community
- Relevant information may be shared with responders when required
7. Medical Information (Optional)
If you choose to provide medical or emergency information:
- You consent to its use strictly for emergency response
- This information will only be visible when necessary to assist responders
Providing this information is voluntary.
8. Subscriptions, Billing & Auto-Renewal
SafeGrid is sold to organisations as a subscription: a hosted software service, licensed per site, per month, billed monthly in advance in South African Rand (international customers see US Dollar guide pricing; charges are processed in ZAR). Every new site starts with a 14-day free trial and no card is required to begin it.
Subscriptions renew automatically for a further month at the price then shown, unless cancelled before the renewal date. You may cancel at any time — there is no minimum term and no cancellation fee. Cancellation stops the next renewal; your site keeps full access until the end of the period already paid for.
A subscription may be purchased through one of three channels, and this determines who bills you and who handles cancellation and refunds:
- Our website — we are the merchant of record; payment is processed by PayFast. Cancel from the Billing page.
- Apple App Store — Apple bills you. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase, and the subscription renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel in Settings → your Apple Account → Subscriptions. Refunds are requested from and decided by Apple.
- Google Play — Google bills you. Manage or cancel in Play Store → Subscriptions; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Refunds are handled under the Google Play refund policy.
Where a free trial is offered through an app store, any unused portion of that trial is forfeited when a subscription is purchased. Deleting the app does not cancel a store subscription.
Full terms — including delivery, cancellation and refunds — are set out in our Refund, Cancellation & Delivery Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
9. Resident Contributions
Separately from the above:
- Residents may voluntarily contribute financially to their neighbourhood watch
- SafeGrid may facilitate payment processing on behalf of communities
- All payments are subject to third-party payment provider terms
SafeGrid is not responsible for disputes between users and neighbourhood organisations.
10. Availability of Service
We strive to maintain platform availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access and may perform maintenance or updates at any time.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SafeGrid shall not be liable for any loss, injury, or damage arising from use of the platform, delays or failures in emergency response, or actions taken based on information shared within the platform.
12. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts for misuse or remove content that violates these terms.
13. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of SafeGrid after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. When material changes are made, users will be required to re-accept before continuing.
